(Sometimes the answer is, “I don’t know.”)
Q: Where did you get the idea for FLOATING?
A: From a dream I had. I woke up and wrote it down. It’s sort of what happened in chapter … I don’t know which chapter it is now! I’ll have to go look it up! Lots of scenarios from the book are from dreams. There will be more in book #2.
Q: Who is your publisher?
A: Capucia Publishing, where everyone is amazing. I cannot sing their praises enough. Such great people. Such wonderful support. Such a great mission.
Q: How long did it take you to write FLOATING?
A: Fourteen years. Or two years. Both answers are correct. I began writing a long time ago, in a galaxy far away, but 95% of the book was written during a certain pandemic which shall remain nameless..
Q: What book are you writing now?
A: I’m working on the sequel to Lucy’s story, called FLYING. (I don’t have a subtitle yet.) Mostly I’m working on this website, though, and getting things ready for my book launch in January. (Sometimes it feels like writing the book was the easy part!)
Q: Did you create your website yourself?
A: Yes, I did! But I took an online class from Christina Hills called the Website Creation Workshop. I highly recommend this class! I had initially hired someone to build a website for me, but I was very frustrated with how that was going. I decided to invest the time to learn how to do it myself, and I am so glad I did. Christina and her team are incredibly supportive and helpful! I’ve learned so much, and the combination of technical skills and artistic sensibility made me thoroughly absorbed in the process. There is also a FaceBook page where students can ask other students for help, but Christina or someone else on her team always chimes in with suggestions.
